Awards and Incentives for Engaged Student

The Community Engagement Task Force is pleased to announce a variety of awards and incentives designed to enhance and expand the awareness and practice of community-engaged activities by students at FAU.  

Students who are awarded research grants through , or the Â鶹¾«Æ·ÊÓƵWave,  and who incorporate a community-based research component into their project, are eligible for additional funding through FAU’s various Office of Community Engagement Awards and Incentives programs. Few opportunities for engaged students include: 

Wave Engaged Research Award

    • Summary of Program: Award for Â鶹¾«Æ·ÊÓƵWave research projects with a community-based focus.
    • Selection Process: 
      • All approved Â鶹¾«Æ·ÊÓƵWave projects w/a CE component are eligible.
      • Selection by DoR and CE Committee
    • Amount: One $1,000 award per year
    • ±·´Ç³Ù±ð²õ:ÌýÂ鶹¾«Æ·ÊÓƵWave awarded in Spring

Undergraduate Engaged Research Award

    • Summary of Program: Award for Undergraduate research projects with a community-based focus.
    • Selection Process: 
      • All projects presented at the Undergraduate Research Symposium are eligible.
      • Selection by Research Council and Â鶹¾«Æ·ÊÓƵCE-C
    • Amount: One 1st Place award of $150, One 2nd Place award of $100
    • ±·´Ç³Ù±ð²õ:ÌýUndergraduate Research Symposium is held in the Spring

Graduate Engaged Research Award

    • Summary of Program: Award for graduate research projects with a community-based focus.
    • Selection Process: 
      • All projects presented at the Graduate Research Day are eligible.
      • Selection by Â鶹¾«Æ·ÊÓƵCE-C
    • Amount: One 1st Place award of $150, One 2nd Place award of $100 
    • ±·´Ç³Ù±ð²õ:ÌýGraduate Research Day is held in the Spring

Undergraduate Engaged Research Project Grant 

    • Summary of Program: Additional funding for community-based OURI/SURF research projects.
    • Selection Process: 
      • All approved OURI/SURF projects with a CE component are eligible.
      • Selection by Research Council and Â鶹¾«Æ·ÊÓƵCE-C 
    • Amount: Up to 10 grants (10 for UR, 10 for SURF) of $1,200 Max per semester per project
    • ±·´Ç³Ù±ð²õ:Ìý
      • OURI grants are given year round.
      • SURF grants are presented in Spring for Summer/Fall work.

Graduate Engaged Research Project Grant 

    • Summary of Program: Additional funding for community-based thesis and dissertation research projects.
    • Selection Process: 
      • All projects submitted to the Graduate College with a CE component are eligible.
      • Selection by Â鶹¾«Æ·ÊÓƵCE-C 
    • Amount: Up to 10 grants of $500 Max per semester per project 
    • ±·´Ç³Ù±ð²õ:ÌýThesis and Dissertation grants are given year round.
