What is Kick Off Your Future?

At Florida Atlantic, we are committed to not only preparing students for success in college but also creating pathways to careers that extend beyond graduation. Kick Off Your Future is an early key step in that journey— helping students connect with valuable resources and explore career options. Kick Off Your Future Career Readiness Module is your introduction to the career planning process. Within this module, you will find many benefits, including

  • A better understanding of yourÌýpersonal values, interests, and skills—and how they connect to academic majors and careers.
  • Insights intoÌýacademic and career readiness skillsÌýneeded for today’s workforce.
  • Awareness of employment opportunitiesÌýand wage prospects for different majors.
  • Access toÌýcritical career readiness resourcesÌýat the Florida Atlantic Career Center.

Requirements and Hold:

As required by Florida House Bill 1261, a hold will be placed on a student’s account within a student's first semester if the Kick Off Your Future requirements have not been met. This hold will prevent the student from registering for the next semester’s courses. Once the requirements have been met, the hold will be removed automatically within 24 hours.

  1. ReviewingÌýÌýto learn about wage perspectives by Florida Atlantic majors 1, 5, and 10 years post-graduation.
  2. CompletingÌýMajor KnOWLedgeÌýthat links to Florida AtlanticÌýmajors, occupations, and salary data.
  3. Registering with the Career Center by claiming yourÌýÌýaccount and completingÌýyourÌýÌýprofile.
  4. Learning about critical career readiness resources, such as building a professional resume and gaining experience and career skills.
  5. Affirming awareness of your selected major’s employment and wage prospects. The affirmation is completed within the Kick Off Your Future career readiness training module.

FAQ's

What is the deadline for completion?

  • MY FIRST SEMESTER AT Â鶹¾«Æ·ÊÓƵIS IN THE SUMMER/FALL.
    • For students who start taking classes in the Summer or Fall, semesters you have until August 30th before a hold is placed on your account. To ensure that you can register on time for the spring semester, you will need to complete Kick Off Your Future prior to course registration.
  • MY FIRST SEMESTER AT Â鶹¾«Æ·ÊÓƵIS IN THE SPRING.
    • For students who start taking classes in the Spring semesters, you have until January 30th before a hold is placed on your account. To ensure that you can register on time for your Summer/Fall semesters, you will need to complete Kick Off Your Future prior to course registration.

What if I have technical difficulties?

  • Canvas recommends using Chrome whenever using their site for best performance
  • We recommend completing this on a desktop/laptop to avoid any issues
  • If you think you have completed the requirement, but are still getting notifications to complete it, be sure that you navigate through all six pages of the module. On the last page, you will see a green button that takes you to a one question survey. Once you submit that you have completed Kick Off Your Future.
