* Chinese Fast Track is designed for people who have no prior knowledge or minimal knowledge of Chinese Putonghua (Mandarin). Pinyin, Chinese (simplified) characters, and English are used in a parallel format throughout the whole course so as to meet the needs of different learners. It will give students the opportunity to gain confidence in using vocabulary and grammar most relevant to everyday situations.
**8 sessions only.
***Brush up on your French by translating (into English) selected passages from Camus's 尝'茅迟谤补苍驳别谤 and La chute and Sartre's Huis clos. This seminar includes in-depth analysis of the French language and delves into the key features of French existentialism as well as theories of the translation process. Discussions will be held either in English or French, at the students' discretion, to create an inviting intellectual environment.
