State Authorization Compliance and Accreditation

NC-SARA is a voluntary, regional approach to state oversight of postsecondary distance education. The reciprocity agreements allow for the open delivery of academic credit-earning activities in participating states, including academic field experiences such as internships or practicums.

Current authorized SARA member states include the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, and all states except California. Complaint Process

Complaint Requirements

  3. Complaint must be a formal assertion in writing that the terms of SARA, or laws, standards or regulations incorporated by SARA, are being violated by a person, institution, state, agency or other organization or entity operating under the terms of SARA.

  5. If you are not a student, but have a concern about any of the above, you may submit a complaint.
